Please don't hate me Jen but I couldn't resist today...I wasn't even suppose to go there!
Around lunchtime, my co-worker asked me if I wanted a Qdoba coupon. I see that chain all the time but never really had a chance to try it. After visiting their website, I decided to make use of the coupon...
So as I was walking down 23rd street, I caught a glimpse of Madison Square Park. Shake Shack suddenly came into my mind... As I got closer and closer to Qdoba (adjacent to MSP), I couldn't stop staring at the SS area. I told myself that if I didn't see a line, I would go get it.
I didn't see a line...
Cute bag
I ordered a single shackburger (well done) and cheese fries. I sorta messed up on my order. I forgot to add my normal burger toppings. I think it was because I was kinda excited that there was no a line and I didn't have time to "plan" my order. I ordered a burger w/o pickles! I think anyone that knows me knows that I love my pickles...on a burger that is.
Here's a closeup of the bread. I think it was potato bread. Not sure how I feel about that yet.
Closeup of the cheese fries:
Fries were pretty good. Nothing out of the ordinary except that it was pretty crispy. I would say that it's up on my list but definitely not on the top of the list. Oh, and I kinda wished they had put more cheese on it.
Btw...on a side note, I had took 5 closeup pictures of these fries. This picture was the only decent one. All the others came up "shinny". The ones I took w/o the flash came out kinda fuzzy. I guess I need to learn how to use the options on my camera better.
Here's a closeup of the burger (had the same camera trouble with this one):
Maybe it's me but does this picture totally make the burger look nasty? Well, the good news is that it didn't taste that nasty. It was actually alright tasting. Yes, I said alright. I have to admit that I was kinda disappointed by it. It didn't taste that special...at least not what I was expecting. The burger was a tad dry and tasted kinda bland. I can't really comment about the "shack sauce". They didn't put that much on it so I didn't taste it enough. There was something odd about it but I can't put my finger on it.
Overall, it was an okay experience. I would definitely go back again but this time I will make sure to order all of my favorite toppings. Once I do that, I think I can make a better assessment of the place. Five Guys Burger and Fries is still on my #1 burger place list!
P.S. I totally fell into a food coma after eating this. I drank some green tea to make me feel better...
