Pancake Pantry

So this was a place picked out by our friends. We were originally going to eat here instead of the Pfunky Griddle but when we got there, we saw a pretty long line. We didn't want to wait so we ended up eating at my choice (Pfunky).

After seeing the long line, I got interested and decided to head back the next day. We got there around 11 something and there was still a line. We waited about 25 mins so it wasn't too bad. It's just like waiting at a restaurant around dinner time. I guess I'm just not used to see a formal line for a restaurant.

I should have taken a pic of the line. The line was gone once we finished eating.

H's chocolate milk and my coffee.

Tennessee Country Ham end slices - $5

H's scrambled eggs and ham.

Hash Browns - $3 and Steak and Eggs - $14

H's steak and hash browns. The steak was dry according to him. The bread was not bad. The hash browns weren't too bad either. It was chunks of potato with a crispy top.

Old Fashioned Buttermilk Pancakes - $6.15

So since this place was called Pancake pantry, I decided to order pancakes. I initially wanted to order some special pancakes but I punked out at the last minute and got something safe. Damn, I totally made a mistake. I definitely should have been a little bit more adventurous and ordered one of their specials. Other people's pancakes looked good. Mine just looked like....well, ordinary . It tasted ordinary too.

So this was a decent place. It wasn't anything special. If anything, the breakfast was probably like IHOP. I guess I just ordered the wrong dishes.

Oh, and this hot sauce seemed pretty popular there. Not a bad hot sauce.

So that's it for my TN food posts. We ate at one more place but it was bad so I didn't even bother taking pics. The place turned out to be like a take-out. The food wasn't good either. It was called Jack's BBQ. It got really good rating on Yelp but it was horrible to me. What's up with that?

The Pfunky Griddle

So after hours of looking (seriously), I decided to eat at this place. Boy, did we get a surprise when we ordered.

Looks local doesn't it?

Anyway, the place is named Pfunky Griddle. I guess it was named that fora reason. I don't know what kind of research I did but I had no idea that we would be cooking our own breakfast! The waiter told us when we started ordering. It sounded interesting/fun at first but once our supplies came, I realized that I was just too lazy to do such a thing. But whatever, we didn't have much of a choice at that point.

I took some random pictures. Here's a pic of us cooking the eggs. It was kinda hard to cook the eggs because the griddle was not level and so the eggs kept sliding to the left. On the left, you'll see the big ham H ordered and the little sausages. On the top left are our potatoes. It was like mashed potatoes and it wasn't too bad.

This was my plate. The eggs were just eggs and the bacon was just bacon. The potato was the only thing that was different. It tasted pretty good after being on the griddle for a few minutes.

This was H's dish. According to him, the ham was pretty salty.

So this whole thing ended up costing us about $53. Isn't that crazy? That much money to cook our own food. We also ordered pancakes (which we also had cook ourselves). The pancakes weren't that good.

So yeah, this was a disappointment.

Judge Bean's Bar-B-Que

So my trip to Tennessee was alright. It was nice to see what Nashville was like. I wish I knew what restaurants/places to visit. I based all my restaurant choices off Yelp and I don't know what it was but none of the restaurants I chose was any good. Our friends picked out two restaurants and they had much better luck. I wonder how they found these places.

Anyway, here's where we ate the first night. Our friends picked this place.

Okay - I gotta say one thing about Nashville. The restaurants closes way too early! H tried to go to Subway around 6 something and it was already closed! We got to this place around 9ish and they told us that we only had a few minutes to order because the kitchen was closing. It turns out that they decide when to start closing up. I guess if it's busy, they keep the place open.

We took about 5 mins to order. Since H and I weren't really hungry, we didn't have to look at  the menu too much.

The Judge's Shrimp Diablo - 3 for $10

The description on the menu was: Jalapeno pepper stuffed with smoked shrimp or chicken with cheese & wrapped in bacon. We got this without the bacon (friend doesn't eat meat). I kinda don't remember how it taste but I do remember it being alright. It certainly wasn't worth $10 for three. That's some expensive shrimp!

Cheese Quesadilla - $10

I liked this even though there wasn't any meat in it. It had good flavor and it was nice and warm.

Smoked Hot Wings - 12 for $11

Now, this was some spicy wings! I wasn't expected it at all. I liked this but was only able to eat a couple of them (because I was full). These would have been awesome if it was smaller and a bit crisper.

Catfish Tacos - 3 tacos for $9.50

This was yummy as well. The fish was slightly fried and there was some hot sauce that made it better. Hot sauce makes everything better!

So the good news is that I liked this place. The bad news is that this was the best place out of all the places I ate at =/ Ah well, better luck next time I guess!
